Taiwan 2013: Day 3
Taiwan 2013 travel diary resumes!
DAY 3
Had a good sleep and woke up to buffet breakfast on the 3rd day.
Mad love their pumpkin congee. The Taiwanese always seem to be providing porridge, cabbages, preserved vegetables and beancurd during breakfast.
Strolled around the 'farm' after breakfast before packing up and heading to the next destination.
Saw 2 pigs just minding their own business on the grass patch. Grandma saw one of em' looking all down and moody at the side and decided to go talk to it. Literally. HAHAHA.
She was asking in canto, 'What's wrong? Are you sick? Wake up'.
^ These were how the wooden huts looked like!
Headed to the mushroom museum /factory /farm after leaving.
It was really funny. We had to wear cotton caps for our heads and feet. Then go into a room where we'll lift our hands up like criminals, spin around while strong wind blows out the germs from our bodies.
^White fungus mushroom. Always yummy in soups and desserts.
^Pink mushrooms! My first time seeing them and they smell like crab. Really weird.
Got to DIY our own mushrooms to be brought back to Singapore for growth too :)
Lunch at the mushroom place after DIY activity.
We had MUSHROOMS HOTPOT - all the mushrooms that we were introduced to were all placed in a huge bowl. Of course there were seafood, vegetables and thinly sliced lean pork :D
We were brought to a railway station after that.
Don't know what is it about trains that're so fascinating that the tour guide kept bringing us to see them.
Once or twice is fine but...
Temples and streets next!
Mom and I didn't go into the temples though... So I just hopped into Family Mart to look at food :)
After Aunt and Grandma came out we went to roam the streets~
OOOOHHHH fooood :')
One of the popular bubbletea outlets!
Tried plain milk tea. Really nice, tasted different from Koi and Gongcha Singapore.
Less milky taste, more tea. Forgot to ask for pearls, silly me :(
Stopped by a dumpling shop for some dumplings cause we were a little hungry.
Pan fried dumplings > Steamed dumplings
Got some brown sugar cake from a store near the bubbletea shop too!
On our way back to the tour bus I spotted a cart selling cartoon waffle cakes.
Of course I had to get some!!!! Pity they ran out of Spongebob :(
Got Patrick star, Mr Crabs, Sandy, Hello Kitty and My Melody.
Left for our hotel for the night after that!
THE SUN, HOT SPRING RESORT.
The best hotel we stayed for the entire Taiwan trip, beats the rest hands down.
The room was big and so modernly decorated. There was an indoor and outdoor hotspring. If you refuse to soak with the other peasants you can be #foreveralone in your private tub in your room ;)
And if you don't feel like swimming or soaking yourself, you can simply chill in an airconditioned area with foosball, hot tea, and sofas.
^This is how it looks like, outdoors. It was freezing that night though.
I didn't get to soak cause I don't have a swimming costume and refused to buy one.
They even have an area for you to sit and let little fishes chew off dead skin from your feet.
Chilled under the umbrella while waiting for the ladies and then back to the room.
Had green tea and some snacks while watching TV before heading for bed.
Will never forget THE SUN.
Will show you pix of the room in my next post on day 4 : )
