OSAKA 2014 • DAY 1

HELLO EXISTING READERS.
After helping with 2 FYP shoots and work, I am finally taking the time to write about my trip.
Also because I really really really miss Japan already, and seeing the pictures and footage helps a tiny bit. I really wanna go back to Osaka.

Here's day 1.

Met with my 3rd Uncle's family at the airport, had tea and then boarded the plane. Cathay Pacific. Had a layover in Hong Kong, after which we took a connecting flight to Osaka. Midnight flights are just... crazy. All of us were so tired at HKIA we had to have food and coffee.
Dinner served on plane otw to HK. I'd have pasta over Chinese food anytime!!!
I almost forgotten how nice Hong Kong Airport is. Of course Changi Airport will always be first, but still HKIA is one of the nicest looking airports I've come across so far.

We took the 1am flight from HK to Kansai International Airport.
Immediately went to wash up and change into thicker clothes, then stopped by Starbucks for our morning coffee :)

Our first location was the fish market, where we went for the tuna carving show.
My Dad and I.
We were obvs very happy with my catch.
Walked around the market and saw this... What the???
Mad delish Octopus crackers which we couldn't stop binging on!!!
OHAYOU OJI!
(Morning uncle)

This place was where we got our trip's theme song. The song was actually just a man repetitively singing "MAGURO MAGURO MAGURO MAGURO" (Japanese for tuna) and my cousin and Dad kept singing throughout the entire trip!!! Drove us all cray.
I'd like a thick fat slice of succulent tuna please :(
We explored the area around the fish market, went to a fruit shop and got a bucket of sweet juicy oranges at a really affordable price. The aunty saw that there were so many of us so she kindly gave us extra oranges to share :')
Yo ma.
We had lunch at Coco Ichibanya cause it was right next to the Uniqlo outlet we planned on going.
You might be familiar with this Coco cause we have it in Singapore too.
But... they have more on their menu and the food tastes mad awesome here because Coco originated in Japan.
Cured meat salad.
Can I have 10 more plates of this please??
The meat was so fresh and the salad dressing, amazeballs.
My sis's beef curry rice.
My dad's chicken cutlet curry rice.
My scrambled egg + asparagus curry rice.
Mom's curry sausage soup + rice.
I LOVE EM' ALL *inserts a million hearts*
I'm so tempted to have more curry rice in Singapore!!!

Also if you didn't know, Japanese curry is different from the curry in Sgp.
Theirs is sweeter and slightly less spicy. But of course you can choose the spiciness level.
Uniqlo is EVERYWHERE in Osaka.
So undoubtedly one of the places we went to quite often throughout the trip.

Our next stops were BOOB ROCK + FLAT ROCKS.
Ok I gave boob rock its name, it's not official... In case you go googling.
Legit name's Engetsu Island.
I mean, the first time I saw this from far I immediately thought "boob".
AMAZING though, isn't it? It isn't man-made.
I like clear waters.

Flat rocks, the place also known as Senjojiki. In Japanese meaning "one thousand tatami mats".
Thank you Mother Nature.
Obviously Dad casually lifted up the rock... It's a piece of sheet.
And tried to climb it... Idk.
Haaaaaaay.
So if you were wondering where we got our weird funny genes from... :)
Carved by my sis. This piece of art will be in the Senjojiki Book of Art in 2050.
I kid.

Checked in to Musashi Hotel!!!
And went for dinner at a ramen shop.
CRISPY GYOZA.
All of us were like "Where's the egg??????"
The sweet, sweet egg that is seasoned with soy sauce and soft boiled so perfectly :')
But t'was okay. At least we managed a hot satisfying bowl of ramen on a cold winters night before bed. Bliss.

We went to Daiso and Gourmet City (name of a supermarket) after that to get breakfast before heading back to the hotel. Ate cheesecake before going to bed, fed and fat!

I'll update with Day 2 real soon.
Hope you enjoyed this post.

Start of Year 2 Sem 2 tomorrow.
Not sure how I feel about this but I'll just make the best out of it.
Looking forward to all the things that I'll be doing this year.
