Taiwan 2013: FINALE (Jiu Fen, Shi Fen, Xi Men Ding)

DAY 6

Rise and shine to buffet breakfast at Lover's Boutique!
The restaurant area was themed sort of Alice-in-Wonderland-ish.
It felt a little surreal, yet confusing.
As spotted, I always have to have a bowl of congee with pork/chicken floss cause it's too good!! I love the noodles (on the plate) it tasted super delish. *inserts hearts*
^ As mentioned in the previous post. The lift has a velvety lounge with cushions. And the walls are padded. Seriously? Yea seriously. And in front of it is a plasma tv mounted on the wall. That's the only time I wished that lift rides were longer....

The exterior of our hotel! WEGO's Lover Boutique ^_^

And this mall and huge ferris wheel is just opposite our hotel.

Hopped on the bus and headed to JIU FEN OLD STREET.
Yep... That's what you get on top of mountains everyday: a picturesque view!

I love narrow streets in cold weather. Squeezing with other people didn't irk me anymore because I was wearing a jacket and that would just be kind of cosy.

Mini kimchi fishballs!!!! They have original, curry, sweet and sour etc.
Mind you I just had breakfast... But in less than 2 hours I was already hungry. Or... (coughs) greedy.

We then went to another place to look at the scenery... Which I didn't really care for. So there won't be pictures on that. Didn't know the entrance fee was being paid for, if not I'd have went in. But meh... I  got really lazy and tired of walking so I decided to stay at the pavilion with my aunt.

Went to SHI FEN OLD STREET after that!! :)
Had a good experience visiting the old mine railway factory. It was a good hour spent pretending to be workers from the olden days eating lunch from a bento box, sitting in carts which were pulled by an engine and going through pitch-dark tunnels.
Loved the braised egg + taiwan sausage + cabbage + pork + rice!!! :')

SKY LANTERNS @ SHI FEN
Finally gotten my chance to write on a sky lantern and releasing it into the sky on a railway track!
Saw the pictures on Lindy's blog while she was there and boy was I envious. It's my turn now!! :')
HAHAHA I couldn't write chinese words for nuts, even wrote SHEN wrongly omg what a disgrace.
Had to resort to english words... Even drew heart shapes.
^ Obviously written by my mom
^ Obviously we had to have a cheesy shot at the railway tracks...
HAHAHA can you just take a moment to look at how we were all looking up full of hope!

You know there's something about food that turns me on so quickly. My radar beeps when I smell or spot food nearby. I immediately ran to the stall in front of the tracks selling fried ice-cream and omg!!!! was there a party in my mouth. Hot crispy crust with icy cold vanilla gelato inside. *angels sing*

XI MEN DING
The evening that I've been waiting for...
Shopping and cheap sushi!!! (I love my life)

Checked-in to Miramar Garden Hotel after 2 hours of food + shopping!
If I'm not wrong it's a 5* hotel. The exterior looks really grand and the lobby looks a little European.

Time to dig in for supper!!
EasyWay taro milk tea that Lindy recommended.
Not bad at all, defo nicer than GongCha's.

Oyster omelette, carrot cake and XL fried chicken!!!!
The oyster omelete is different from Singapore's. It has a sweet and sour tomato taste.
The carrot cake is good and the fried chicken is good, even though not the legit HAO DA one.

DAY 7
The smoked salmon and kimchi was so good!! So was the congee, waffle and french toast ^_^

Since we had 2 hours to spare before leaving for the airport, we strolled to SOGO Shopping Mall.

At B1 and B2 there're A LOT of pastry/cake shops!!! I went crazy ogling at all the nicely decorated cakes. Angry birds and Hello Kitty especially. They have a shop selling Hello Kitty pastries O M G.
Got a HK pudding for myself and a HK cake to celebrate Mom's birthday in advance.

No time for shopping, don't fret, shop at the ultra big supermarket!!!

Took a cab back to the hotel! I like how they remind you to buckle your seatbelt ;)

Back to the hotel to pack up and hopped onto the bus to the airport :'(
Got the tour group to sing Happy Birthday to mom and gave her the cute cake.
^ With the TW tour guide and the SG tour guide :) They've been of really good help that week.

LUNCH @ the food court!
Vegetarian pasta + Tapioca milk tea :)

Fried Chicken!!!

Minced meat noodles + giant fishballs

Hoped on the plane at around 2 or 3 plus. Dinner at around 5?
Touched down at 8 plus P.M.

'WELCOME BACK, ALICIA HO'
HOW ABOUT NO!?!?!?! I DON'T WANNA BE BACK T_T

I want to go back to Taiwan and indulge in all the scrumptious food.
Stroll along the streets with cool breeze blowing at my face.
Stay at legit 5* hotels.
Eat like a king during buffet breakfasts.
Have awesome congee and pork floss every morning.
Go crazy at the uber big supermarket.
Awe at every nicely packaged drink and food in 7-11.
Take the trains.
And the list goes on and on...
I wish my TW updates never had to end.
But I guess when one door closes, another will open.
I'm looking forward to another trip and I hope it'll be soon ;)

Hope you enjoyed reading all my Taiwan posts as much as I enjoyed writing them.
Will update with local happenings and food soon.
Ta. x
